Anna Andrews, a BBC news anchor, is asked to report on a woman's murder in Blackdown, the countryside village where she grew up. She soon realizes that she is the heart of the story. Detective Chief Inspector Jack Harper knows that Anna knew the victim, but he hasn't told anyone that he knew her too. Then Jack realizes he is a suspect in his own murder investigation.
